use the Activity Stream Extras plugin to remove the ability to reply to activity comments

if you block the activity_comment type – this will cause problems within buddypress

1) the admins can edit all and the plugin uses the function bp_activity_user_can_delete() along with a timeframe you specify (ie, 2 hours, 1 day, etc) for the user who made the posting.

2) correct, this is a simple textarea as buddypress does not use tinymce for activity updates.

Not currently due to the lack of hooks within BuddyPress. I believe bp1.6 has moved the activity stream into CPT and allows editing via the dashboard. (i haven’t tested it yet)

Is it possible to block replies on published comments in the activity tab? (why i want this: if replying is possible, it surpasses the groupforum, makes a sort of second forum)

Hi,

Two observations/questions:

1. Are admins the only ones capable of editing any person’s contribution to the Activity Stream? Or can any logged in user edit any person’s Activity Stream contribution?

2. When I try to edit an entry, the page that comes up has html markup in it. Is that by design? Or should TinyMCE be showing for use by the user without the markup?

Yes, it is possible with a little bit of work.

A filter is passed during the check

apply_filters( 'etivite_bp_activity_block_denied_activity_type_check', in_array( $type, apply_filters( 'etivite_bp_activity_block_denied_activity_types', $types ) ), $type, $item_id, $secondary_item_id, $user_id, $component )

When a new blog post is recorded , these values are set

'item_id'           => $blog_id,
'secondary_item_id' => $post_id,

So you would need get the post (via the post_id) and then find out category information. If on MS install – the switch to blog function would need to be used (via blog_id)

Ok.. I figured out my problem: I’m an idiot.

“Seperate types with commas.”

When selecting the types, I put them each on their own line, with no commas.

So, if anyone else out there is having this problem, read the instructions and don’t be an idiot. It’s working good now!!! Thanks for your help!

no, this plugin does not access the database directory – only via the BuddyPress activity class
